Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can design a pipe from scratch for a two stroke motor please. This is a very much modified Rotax motor and we are wondering if a new pipe will help it work better. Thanks.

His name has been mentioned, NSW resident would be the preference if we could. It really needs someone who can do all the maths and understands what actually makes a pipe work with THAT engine, not a rehash of "something that worked on some other motor so it should be close for yours" type of thing. I suspect these guys are very thin on the ground in Oz. I will keep IW in mind though and thanks.

Hi Chris,

I assume you are talking of a 256?

If so, I don't see the point in going about it in your way.

Chris Merlin makes the best pipes in the world for the 256. There are a few other very good options that I could tell you but all are in the UK.  Make no mistake about that.
No one will be able to better them and they will cost you more than the UK option anyway.

If not the 256, forget I said anything.

No, nothing that exotic, just a Max. We bored it to 145 added a modded carby and it now needs a decent pipe which I have done nothing about. Thanks anyway.

Hi Chris,
sounds like a nice project. What will you run it in, 125 gbox?
I would recommend an aftermarket ign coil with a more aggresive curve built into it, possibly even a programmable one so you can taylor the curve to suit the mods and any future ones you might like to add.

I have heard that in NZ there are a few "BALLS OUT" max's running on methanol!!  Shocked

Good luck in your adventure.
Regards Scott

Did anyone sort this out. As I have found a slight variation on the Rotax VSK164 pipe works exceptionaly well.
